What does the Princess Beatrix fund entail?
The Princess Beatrix Muscle Fund, formerly Princess Beatrix Fund, finances, directs and stimulates scientific research into muscle diseases.
Because they know that scientific research is the only key to making all muscle diseases treatable in the future.
By working together with expert researchers and getting the most out of our research, they achieve success together on the road to healing.
The fund was established in 1956 as the Fund to Combat Infantile Paralysis following a polio epidemic. Princess Beatrix became the patroness.
In 1957 the name was changed to the Princess Beatrix Fund, the fund expanded its scope to other muscle diseases because infantile paralysis in the Netherlands was quickly controlled through vaccination.
In 2012, the name of the fund changed to Prinses Beatrix Spierfonds.
